MONROE - This year's Green County Fair hosted about 2,000 more visitors this year compared to 2013, fair board treasurer Pam Wyss said.
About 23,000 people came out to enjoy the festivities this year, Wyss said. Wyss chalked up the high numbers to the "gorgeous weather" that graced the fair July 16 through July 20.
Wyss wrote in an email that the success of the fair gives the Green County Agricultural Society and Mechanics Institute the necessary funds to continue their nonprofit operations. She said the number of visitors remained high day-to-day and helped out vendors immensely. She said sales increased, giving food vendors more incentive to come back next year.
