Extreme cold brings year to an end in Wisconsin

MONROE - A blast of cold air is moving into Wisconsin, bringing brutal temperatures and dangerous wind chills.

The National Weather Service says most of the state is under a wind chill advisory today, Dec. 30.

The Monroe area is expected to have a high temperature of 5 or 6 degrees, with wind chills between -15 and -25. There's an 80 percent chance of snow in the afternoon. One to 2 inches of snow is forecast.

Tuesday, Dec. 31 will bring a high near 9 or 10. The wind chill is expected to be from -10 to -20. Snow is likely Tuesday night.

A 50 percent chance of snow continues Wednesday, Jan. 1. The temperature should climb, with the high expected near 17.
