MONROE - An Exeter man was arrested Wednesday for possessing child pornography after several storage devices containing the material were discovered at his residence.

Michael John Owen, 48, was arrested after Green County Sheriff's deputies executed a search warrant at his residence on Dohm Drive, Town of Exeter, on Wednesday.

At Owen's residence, deputies seized a laptop and related hard drives containing child pornography. The amount of child porn stored on the devices is yet to be determined.

Owen was subsequently arrested at his place of employment in Dane County.

Owen's arrest concluded a two-month-long investigation after the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force passed along information about Owen's activities to the Green County Sheriff's Office.

Green County Lt. Kari Phillips said Thursday that Owen will likely be charged on multiple counts of possession of child porn, but his charges have not yet been decided.

The maximum possible sentence for a single count of possession of child porn is 15 years in prison.

Owen remains in custody pending a court appearance.
