MONROE - State Sen. Jon Erpenbach, D-Waunakee, was honored recently by the Wisconsin Counties Association (WCA) with a "WCA Outstanding Legislator Award" for his work on behalf of county government during the 2007-2008 Legislative session.
"As the chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, Human Services, Insurance and Job Creation, Senator Erpenbach was a strong supporter of county programs and services and we are grateful for his work on our behalf," WCA Executive Director Mark D. O'Connell said.
Erpenbach was an advocate on a variety of human service issues. In addition, he worked closely with the association on several insurance-related items, according to the WCA.
The "WCA Outstanding Legislator Award" is handed out biennially to a choice group of legislators who have represented county interests in both the Legislature and in their districts.
These legislators have demonstrated leadership for counties on key issues and legislation, such as transportation, corrections alternatives and human services.
WCA represents Wisconsin's 72 counties on both the state and federal levels and is located in Madison.
