MONROE - A rural Monroe woman and Iowa man were arrested Sunday, June 10, after Green County Sheriff's deputies investigated a report of a stolen vehicle west of Monroe.
Jennifer L. Bartels, 30, and Edgar E. Fletcher, 58, were jailed on charges of burglary, theft, entry into a locked vehicle and driving a vehicle without the owner's consent, causing damage.
Deputies responded at 9:16 a.m. to a residence in the W6500 block of Platinum Drive in the Town of Monroe to investigate a neighbor's allegation that Bartels was driving a car that belonged to another resident in the neighborhood who was on vacation, according to Sheriff Jeff Skatrud.
During the follow-up investigation, deputies report finding that Bartels and Fletcher had entered the resident's garage, found a spare key and stolen a chainsaw, medication and miscellaneous personal items. The duo also allegedly pried open the trunk of the car.
