MONROE - The Monroe chapter of Ducks Unlimited's 45th annual fundraiser banquet and auction will be held March 1 at Ludlow Mansion in Monroe.

The event begins with a social hour at 5 p.m., followed by dinner from 5:30 to 7 p.m., after which the program will start.

Advance tickets are $60 per person and $30 for spouses; Greenwings (age 17 and under) are $30; tickets at the door are an additional $5 per ticket. The ticket includes dinner and a Ducks Unlimited membership. There will be a silent auction and a live auction featuring an array of guns and Ducks Unlimited merchandise, including prints, sculptures and other items made and donated by local people. There will be a raffle for several items. Raffle tickets may be bought during the event or by contacting Armin Daubert.

The Dodge Ram test drive will be back this year, sponsored by Dearth Motors of Monroe. Anyone who drives a Dodge truck at the event will be entered in the drawing for a Cabela's $400 gift card, which will be drawn the night of the event.

The money raised from the raffles and auctions will go to support wetland and waterfowl conservation.

Ducks Unlimited is the world's leader in wetlands and waterfowl conservation, according to a news release. The organization started in 1937 during the Dust Bowl when North America's drought-plagued waterfowl populations plunged to unprecedented lows. DU places strong emphasis on its belief in science and research. They work closely with biologists and ecologists to evaluate habitat needs and to monitor how birds respond to various environmental changes. Some of the methods used by DU to conserve habitats are restoring grassland, replanting forests, restoring watersheds, educating landowners, conservation easements and acquiring of land.

Tickets and more information are available online at Ducks.org or by calling Armin Daubert at 608-558-2962.
