MONROE — A Monroe driver crashed his car twice, the second time into a utility pole causing a power outage, before his arrest Friday, Aug. 9, according to Monroe police.

Aaron J. Koch, 23, Monroe, was booked on charges of first offense operating while intoxicated, hit-and-run, operating with a prohibited blood-alcohol concentration and having open intoxicants in a motor vehicle.

He was released pending court.

Officers responded to the 2200 block of 14th Avenue at 2:57 a.m. for a report of a hit-and-run on an unoccupied parked vehicle. Police found the offending vehicle, later identified as Koch’s, in the 1300 block of 20th Street, where it had collided with a utility pole.

The crash into the utility pole caused a power outage in the area, and Alliant Energy was notified, police reported. Koch’s vehicle sustained severe damage and was towed.
