MONROE - The Green County Fair Association will be distributing 20 shares of stock through a public drawing on the first Wednesday in July each year until 116 unissued shares and any accumulated shares are issued.
Members who already have a share are not eligible for the drawing. Except for shares sold by individuals, all shares will be issued through the annual drawing.
President Sam Kaderly said the association is attempting to increase the number of shareholders and the interest and support for the county fair.
Individuals interested in obtaining a share must register at the fair office from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 19; 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 20; or 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 27. People must be 18 to register.
Joyce Binder, fair secretary, will assist individuals who wish to register for a share. Binder said people need to be aware that any shares purchased or transferred after November 2006 no longer are eligible for a stockholder pass to the fair.
Participants whose names are drawn will be notified and will have five business days to pay for their share.
A share of stock is sold for $40 and never will be worth more than $40.
