MONROE - Monroe District Administrator Rick Waski unveiled the school district's new website at a board meeting Monday.
The Monroe school board will be switching website providers from School Messenger to CMS4Schools starting Monday, which is when the new site will go live.
"We had received some information that CMS4Schools was more viewer- and user-friendly, and we have found that to be true," Waski said. "It's more visual. We are optimistic it will be friendlier. It's an improvement over the one before."
One area district officials wanted to beef up was the staff directory, according to Waski. The staff directory on the new webpage will include photos of district employees, contact phone numbers and email addresses. The current webpage does not include phone numbers under the directory.
The new website will have a separate webpage for each school in the district, as well as a knife and fork icon with district lunch menus on the homepage to make it easier to navigate. The homepage will have district news and happenings.
News items are for events that happened yesterday or will happen today or tomorrow, Waski said. The district happenings include upcoming events that are more than a few days away, such as the annual budget meeting scheduled for Monday and the district's Unity Day.
The athletic sports calendar will be broken down by month and games can be clicked on by day to check the opponent and game time without having to go to the Badger Conference calendar.
The homepage and each school's page will be connected to the district's Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube accounts.
"There are some ways where we have six different ways to get to a webpage," Waski said, noting the importance of making certain information more accessible.
Fifteen district employees will be responsible for updating the new website, compared to just Heidi Witt who monitored and updated the current website.
"We will have a lot more people involved in the webpage," Waski said. "We think it will help us keep people updated more."
Monroe school board president Bob Erb supports the new look.
"I think it's a nice step forward," Erb said. "It connects really well with what students and parents will be looking for when they come. It's a good image."
