MONROE - Monroe Superintendent Larry Brown said a day like Monday was one of the worst kinds of days for any school district.
The district learned two recent Monroe graduates were killed in a car crash Sunday.
Amber Moyer, 19, Monroe, graduated in 2008, and Corey Becker, 18, Monroe, was a 2009 graduate. The teens were killed when the vehicles each were riding in collided at about 10 p.m. Sunday, on County CC in Exeter township.
"This is tragic for the families and anybody who knows them," Brown said.
The school district has an emergency response plan, which went into effect immediately Monday morning, he said, which includes getting precise information about the incident to teachers and staff.
"We want to get proper and accurate information to the teachers so they can help the kids," Brown said.
The district also has counselors available for students and staff, he added.
Many students and teachers knew Moyer and Becker, Brown said.
"We're supporting our students," he said. "We'll do anything we can to support their parents and families."
