MONROE - The Monroe school district is looking ahead to what building maintenance projects it needs to tackle in the next five years.
Last week, the school board approved the five-year long-term maintenance priority list, which was submitted by Building and Grounds Supervisor Tom Rufenacht.
Here's a summary of a few of the more expensive projects and their budgeted costs for the district. Projects are subject to change as needs and priorities at each of the district's buildings change:
2010
Replace classroom windows on south side of Monroe High School: $25,000
Bleacher repair and installation of filler board at MHS: $25,000
Resurface and stripe gym floor at MHS: $14,000
Replace third-floor lockers at Monroe Middle School: $20,000
Replace clocks at Abraham Lincoln Accelerated Learning Academy: $18,000
Install drop ceiling and lights at Northside Elementary School: $17,000
Roof repairs at Parkside Elementary School: $22,000
Total repairs for 2010: $288,000
2011
Resurface track at MHS: $45,000
Replace roof at MMS Section A, phase 1: $75,000
Continue ceiling replacement at Monroe Alternative Charter School: $20,000
Total repairs for 2011: $248,000
2012
Replace tennis courts at MHS, phase 1: $70,000
Replace roof MMS Section A, phase 2: $75,000
Replace asphalt on west parking lot at Abe Lincoln: $35,000
Asphalt replacement on north and west playgrounds at Northside: $70,000
