District admin staff reassigned

MONROE - Two administrative personnel will be switching job duties under a staff reassignment approved by the Monroe school board Monday.

Dan Keyser, currently the district's director of curriculum and instruction, will become the new associate principal at Monroe Middle School. That position was reinstated for the 2014-15 school year after being eliminated for this school year due to budget concerns.

Terri Montgomery, who currently serves as dean of students at MMS, will take the curriculum position.

District administrator Cory Hirsbrunner recommended the position reassignments, which she called a "positive for Monroe Middle School and for the district as a whole" in a news release.

Keyser was hired by the district in July 2012. He previously worked as an assistant principal at Janesville Parker High School.

Keyser "has been very successful in an (associate principal) position in the past and will be a great addition to the middle school to help with transitional pieces, given we also have a new principal beginning with the 2014-15 school year," Hirsbrunner said. Current MMS principal Lynne Wheeler is retiring at the end of this school year.

In addition to serving as associate principal, Keyser will retain PEP grant management and technology duties.

Montgomery has extensive experience with reading, writing and literacy, Hirsbrunner said.

She was one of three finalists for the curriculum position when Keyser was hired.
