MONROE - The Green County Milk Quality Council, in cooperation with University of Wisconsin-Extension, will be sponsoring its 26th Annual Green County Area Dairy Management Seminar from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday Jan. 9 in the multi-purpose room of the Green County Justice Center, 2841 6th St
Featured speakers include Dr. Mike Hutjens, dairy nutritionist from the University of Illinois, and Keith Engel, field representative with GEA. Hutjens will give two presentations at the seminar, the first titled "Feed Profitability in 2014." Mike's second presentation will be on "Feed Additives: Which One, When, How Much, and Why." Engel will speak on "Proper Teat Care." Keith will address all aspects of caring for teats from the environment they are housed in, preventing contamination, matching the right product to the pathogens in the environment; to optimizing your milk equipment, udder preparation, sanitation of milking equipment and milking procedures
Advance registration fee is $5 and includes lunch. Registrations are due to the Green County UW-Extension Office by Monday, Jan. 6. An additional $2 late fee will be charged for registrations received after this date. Enrollment is limited to 60 participants who register.
