MONROE — Progress continues with the street projects on Monroe’s far east side.
Last week, H. James completed the street coring along 8-1/2 Street and 31st Avenue, as well as fine grading ahead of the curb and gutter crew, according to Al Gerber, Director of Public Works.
“Additionally, H. James cored out and placed stone for the sidewalk along 31st Avenue and 8-1/2 Street,” Gerber said.
Augelli concrete completed the installation of the curb and gutter from 11th Street to 6-1/2 Street on 31st Avenue, 32nd Avenue, and 8-1/2 Street, and they also completed installation of 3/4 of the sidewalk on 32nd Avenue.
Gerber said that this week H. James will work on placing the last 3 inches of road base and will be fine grading the street ahead of the asphalt paving crew. Augelli concrete was scheduled to be back in town on Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 4-5, to finish placing the sidewalk along 8-1/2 Street and 31st Avenue to 11th Street.
“If weather permits, they are planning to place all of the concrete on this first phase of construction,” Gerber said.
The asphalt paving crew is currently scheduled to start paving on Friday, Nov. 7 or Monday, Nov. 10.
“If weather cooperates, we are hoping to have both layers of asphalt completed at that time,” Gerber said.
