MONROE - Breinne Hendrickson will conclude her reign as Green County Dairy Queen Saturday.

It's been a great experience and a chance to meet new people and make new friends, she said.

Hendrickson, who will be a senior at Belleville High School, was busy throughout her reign. She attended Green County Breakfast on the Farm, the Green County Fair and also took part in several parades.

Her main job was to represent the county as well as the dairy industry.

She will hand her crown to the next dairy queen Saturday with some advice for the new queen.

"What you put into it is what you get out of it," she said.

Along with the queen crowning, Green County will celebrate Dairy Days in Monroe Saturday.

The parade and crowning are held in a different Green County community every year. Last year the events were held in Browntown.

The day starts off with a cattle show at 8:30 a.m. at the Green County Fairgrounds. The Green County Ag Chest food trailer and ice cream stand will be on hand for anyone who wants a snack.

The parade begins at 1:30 p.m.

Due to construction work on the Square, the parade route will be modified.

The parade will line up in front of Monroe Middle School, as is customary, and start out on 13th Street traveling east. The route turns north onto 17th Avenue at Turner Hall to meet the Square. However, once on the Square, the parade will turn west onto 11th Street and continue all the way to the Monroe Arts Center.

The dairy queen and dairy princess will be crowned at the Monroe Arts Center.

For more information about the parade, contact Pam Lawver at 966-3808 or Barb Nelson at the Main Street office, 328-4023.
