MONROE - Monroe firefighters responded to a chimney fire at Monroe Lumber, 1900 12th St., around 7:15 a.m. today. Monroe Deputy Fire Chief Lane Heins said there was some smoke inside the building but there wasn't any damage. The Monroe Police Department closed off 12th Street between 18th and 19th avenues while firefighters responded to the scene. Crews remained on the scene but the fire was quickly extinguished. Traffic on 12th Street resumed after about a half-hour.
