Crash takes out state park sign

DARLINGTON — A driver swerving to avoid two deer lost control and crashed into a sign for Yellowstone Lake State Park, according to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office.

The single-vehicle accident was reported on County F at English Hollow Road in the Town of Fayette at 1:43 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 23.

Shawn D. Joslin, 25, Darlington, was northbound in his 2011 Chevrolet when he swerved to miss two deer in the roadway, lost control and crashed into the wooden and stone sign for the state park. His car then started on fire and became fully engulfed, sustaining heavy damage. It was towed.

Joslin was treated at the scene for minor injuries. The Darlington Fire Department and Green County EMS of Darlington assisted deputies at the scene.
