Lafayette County Sheriff
DARLINGTON — On Tuesday, Sept. 18:
• No injuries were reported from a vehicle vs. pole accident at 6 a.m. on County G, Town of Fayette. Shawn P. Salmon, 46, Wauzeka, lost control on a turn due to weather conditions, causing his vehicle to go off the road and hit a power pole. His 1995 Chevrolet was severely damaged and towed. Employees from Scene Rivers Energy and CenturyLink assisted on scene.
• No injuries were reported from a two-vehicle accident at 6:08 a.m. on Bethel Grove Road, Town of Kendall. Emmett M. Miller, 24, Necedah, failed to stop at a stop sign and rear-ended a vehicle driven by Kelly L. Johnson, 50, Darlington. Miller’s 2014 Chevrolet and Johnson’s 2008 Saturn sustained moderate damage. Miller was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign.
• No injuries were reported from a two-vehicle accident at 7:17 p.m. on Alma Street in Benton. Marjean B. Sutherland, 61, Darlington, was backing out of a parking stall and struck a vehicle owned by Janet K. Wymore, 79, Shullsburg. Sutherland’s 2013 Dodge and Wymore’s 2018 Chevrolet sustained minor damage.
On Wednesday, Sept. 19:
• David M. Grainger, 60, Mineral Point, reported hitting a deer at 8 p.m. on County G, Town of Willow Springs. No injuries were reported. Grainger’s 2014 Kia sustained moderate damage and was driven from the scene.

MONROE — A three-vehicle crash with injuries was reported in the Town of Clarno at 4:23 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17. Ruth E. Balsano, 55, Monroe, was stopped in traffic in the W6300 block of County B and waiting to turn north. Roseanna L. Hay, 36, Monroe, was stopped behind her. Rex A. Ewald, 67, Monroe, was eastbound behind them when he rear-ended Hay’s vehicle, which in turn collided with Balsano’s vehicle. Both Balsano and her passenger, Melissa L. Anderson, 34, Monroe, were injured and transported by Green County EMS to the Monroe Clinic ER. Balsano’s vehicle sustained minor damage and was removed from the scene. Hay was injured and also taken by ambulance to the Monroe Clinic ER. Ewald was uninjured in the crash. His airbags deployed. Both his vehicle and Hay’s vehicle sustained severe damage and were towed. Balsano’s vehicle sustained minor damage and was removed from the scene. Ewald was cited for failure to keep vehicle under control. The Monroe Fire Department assisted deputies at the scene.
• David M. Schaaf, 83, Janesville, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash in the Town of Albany reported at 1:39 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19. He was eastbound in the W1100 block of Dunphy Road when his vehicle left the road and struck a ditch. The airbags deployed. The vehicle sustained minor damage and was towed.
