MONROE — On Aug. 13:
● No injuries were reported from a single-vehicle crash at 5:41 a.m. in the N7100 block of Wis. 69, Town of Washington. Michael E. Cavin, 31, Monroe, was traveling on Wis. 69 when he hit a box in the roadway. His vehicle sustained minor damage. It was towed.
● No injuries were reported from a single-vehicle crash at 3:49 p.m. in the W2200 block of County EE, Town of Albany. James Ends, 36, Brodhead, was westbound when he exited the roadway, overcorrected and exited the roadway again hitting an embankment. His vehicle sustained moderate damage with airbag deployment. It was towed. He was cited for inattentive driving.
● A truck vs. tree crash was reported at 1:41 a.m. Aug. 14 in the W100 block of County C, Town of Brooklyn. This remains under investigation.
On Aug. 15:
● No injuries were reported from a single-vehicle crash at 3:49 p.m. in the N1900 block of Wis. 69, Town of Clarno. Mitchell A. Murray, 17, New Glarus, was eastbound on Franklin Road when he failed to stop at the intersection with Wis. 69. He crossed the roadway and entered the east ditch hitting the embankment. His vehicle sustained severe damage with airbag deployment. It was towed. He was cited for failure to maintain control of vehicle.
On Aug. 17:
● Amanda J. Copus, 40, Pardeeville, and passenger Skylar G. Reynolds, 23, Columbus, were transported by Green County EMS to the Monroe Clinic Emergency Room for injuries sustained from a single-vehicle crash at 3:56 p.m. in the W3000 block of Oliver Road, Town of Mt. Pleasant. Copus was eastbound when she failed to negotiate a curve and exited the roadway. Her vehicle entered the ditch and hit a tree. Her vehicle sustained disabling damage with airbag deployment. It was towed. Both Copus and Reynolds were not wearing their seatbelt. Copus was cited for failure to keep vehicle under control. Albany Fire Department assisted.
● No injuries were reported from a two-vehicle crash at 4:28 p.m. in the W6500 block of Wis. 11, Town of Monroe. Tracy L. Thostenson, 42, Brodhead, was westbound when she entered a construction zone and stopped for the crew working in the roadway. A vehicle operated by Billie Jo Rae Rinabarger, 28, Fitchburg, collided with the back of Thostenson’s vehicle. Both vehicles sustained functional damage. Rinabarger was cited for inattentive driving.
● Kayla K. Keller, 23, South Wayne, was transported by Green County EMS to the Monroe Clinic Emergency Room for injuries sustained from a two-vehicle crash at 6:07 p.m. in the W6900 block of Wis. 11, Town of Clarno. Andrew M. Gunn, 37, Beloit, was operating a semi traveling west when he entered a construction zone and came to a stop for workers. A vehicle operated by Keller collided with the back of his trailer. The trailer sustained damage. Keller’s vehicle sustained disabling damage with airbag deployment. It was towed. She was cited for inattentive driving, non-registration of auto and driving without vehicle insurance. Monroe Rural Fire Department assisted. Wisconsin State Patrol assisted with investigation and Green County Highway Department assisted with traffic control.
On Aug. 19:
● No injuries were reported from a two-vehicle crash at 1:21 a.m. Aug. 20 on County Y and Duncan Hill Road, Town of Jordan. Terry M. Scholl, 52, Argyle, was southbound on Duncan Road when he failed to stop at the stop sign and hit an eastbound vehicle operated by Jordan S. Monson, 24, Woodford. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage. Scholl was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign.
On Aug. 23:
● No injuries were reported from a single-vehicle crash at 6:10 p.m. in the W1200 block of County C, Town of Brooklyn. Rachael L. Fosnot, 51, Madison, was traveling on County C and entered the ditch. Her vehicle sustained moderate damage. It was towed. She was arrested on a third-offense charge of operating under the influence. She was jailed.
On Aug. 28:
● No injuries were reported from a single-vehicle crash at 7:31 p.m. in the W9500 block of County MM, Town of Cadiz. Rafael Santiago, 30, Browntown, was northbound when he lost control of his vehicle, exited the roadway and entered a cornfield. The vehicle then entered the Pecatonica River and came to a rest. The vehicle sustained damage. It was towed. He was cited for driving without a valid license, failure to keep vehicle under control and no vehicle insurance. Green County EMS, Woodford Fire Department and Browntown Fire Department assisted.
● A single-vehicle crash was reported at 10:04 p.m. in the N7000 block of County X, Town of Albany. The driver fled scene prior to police arrival. Investigation revealed the vehicle was traveling on County X when it exited the roadway. It hit a traffic sign and a power pole causing power lines to fall onto the roadway. The vehicle sustained severe damage with airbag deployment. It was towed. The roadway remained closed for 2 hours due to downed power lines. The crash remains under investigation. Albany Police, Albany EMS and Albany Fire Department assisted. Alliant Energy made repairs to power pole and downed power lines.
On Sept. 4:
● A vehicle vs. mailbox crash was reported at 2:46 a.m. Sept. 4 in the N7900 block of Buol Road, Town of Exeter. The occupants fled prior to police arrival. The driver was identified as Andrew J. Nimtz, 22, Monticello. Investigation revealed he was northbound when his vehicle entered the east ditch, came back onto the roadway and then entered the west ditch hitting a mailbox. He was arrested on a first-offense charge of operating under the influence. He was also cited for operating with a prohibited alcohol concentration, inattentive driving, failure to keep vehicle under control and hit-and-run to property. New Glarus police assisted.
● Anthany J. Hernandez, 20, Monroe, was transported by EMS to Monroe Clinic Emergency Room and later transferred to St. Mary’s Hospital, Madison, for serious injuries sustained from a single-vehicle rollover crash at 1:07 a.m. Sept. 5 in the N3800 block of Wis. 69, Town of Monroe. He was northbound when he crossed the centerline and entered the southbound lane, entering the west ditch hitting an embankment. The vehicle then went airborne, hit a fence and entered private property overturning multiple times. The vehicle hit two unoccupied vehicles and came to a rest on its side. The vehicle sustained severe damage with airbag deployment. It was towed. He was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected during the crash. He was arrested on a first-offense charge of operating under the influence. He was also cited for unsafe lane deviation, failure to keep vehicle under control and possession of open intoxicants in vehicle. He was released. Green County EMS #800 and #801 and Monroe Rural Fire Department assisted.
Lafayette County Sheriff
DARLINGTON — Spencer M. Gale, 30, Argyle, reported hitting a deer at 5:28 p.m. Aug. 13 on White Oak Road, Town of New Diggings. His 2018 BMW sustained moderate damage.
● Darlington Fire and Lafayette County EMS responded for a one-vehicle accident at 9:37 p.m. Aug. 14 on County E, Town of Darlington. Donald J. Vonarx, 22, Argyle, was eastbound on Mineral Road when he failed to stop the stop sign. He went through the intersection and into the ditch coming to rest in a creek. His vehicle was towed. He was arrested on a first-offense charge of operating while intoxicated. He was also cited for failure to stop at stop sign and failure to maintain control of vehicle. He was released to a responsible party.
● Casey J. Stanton, 41, Darlington, reported hitting a deer at 9:06 a.m. Aug. 15 on County K, Town of Gratiot. The vehicle sustained moderate damage.
● No injuries were reported from a two-vehicle accident at 4:15 p.m. Aug. 18 on West Commerce Street in Belmont. Shannon M. Burgess, 44, Belmont, was traveling on the Cheese Country Trail on a 2011 Polaris when she came to a stop sign at Wis. 126. She entered the roadway and hit a 2015 Jeep operated by Kaylee M. Bouvia, 26, Freeport. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage.On Aug. 19:
●Marc K. Smith, 71, Savanna, Illinois, reported hitting a deer at 11:11 Aug. 20 on Wis. 11, Town of Wayne. His 2010 Ford sustained severe damage. It was towed.
● No injuries were reported from a two-vehicle accident at 8:03 a.m. Aug. 21 on Holland Road, Town of Kendall. Lacey Jo E. Butteris, 30, Mineral Point, failed to stop at a stop sign causing her to hit a milk truck operated by Brian P. Keleher, 59, Shullsburg. The 2014 Kenworth owned by Terry J. Johnson and Sons and Butteris’ 2014 Ford both sustained severe damage. Both were towed. Butteris was cited for failure to stop at stop sign. Belmont Fire, Belmont EMS, Department of Natural Resources and Lafayette County Highway Department assisted.
● James J. McDonald, 88, Gratiot, reported hitting a deer at 9:47 p.m. Aug. 22 on County K, Town of Darlington. His 2008 Buick sustained minor damage. On Aug. 25:
● Amy L. Zweifel, 54, South Wayne, reported hitting a cow at 3:09 a.m. on Neeseman Road, Town of Gratiot. Her SUV sustained minor damage.
● Gratiot Fire Department, Gratiot First and Green County EMS responded for a one-vehicle accident at 3:43 a.m. on Wis. 11, Town of Gratiot. Amanda M. Johnson, 38, La Farge, was westbound when she crossed the center line and entered the ditch. Her 2003 Saturn sustained severe damage. It was towed. She was cited for first offense operating while intoxicated and failure to maintain control of vehicle. Deputies assisted.
● Mitchell J. Quinn, 21, South Wayne, reported hitting a deer at 6:23 a.m. on County D, Town of Wayne. His 2007 Chevrolet sustained moderate damage. It was towed.
● Alexis M. Bridges, 16, Darlington, reported hitting a deer at 3:46 p.m. on Wis. 23, Town of Darlington. Her 2010 Chevrolet sustained severe damage. It was towed.
On Aug. 29:
● Michael D. Paige, 71, Warren, reported hitting a deer at 12:59 p.m. on County KK, Town of Gratiot. His 2020 Jeep sustained moderate damage.
● South Wayne Fire, Browntown Fire, Browntown First Response and Green County EMS responded for a one-vehicle accident at 4:27 p.m. on Wis. 11, Town of Wayne. The driver fled scene prior to arrival. A vehicle was westbound when it entered the gravel, overcorrected and entered the eastbound ditch overturning and came to rest on its passenger side. The vehicle sustained moderate damage. It was towed. Green County Sheriff’s Office and a deputy assisted.
● No injuries were reported from a one-vehicle accident at 10:55 p.m. on Wis. 81, Town of Elk Grove. Dewayne B. Morrison, 54, Brodhead, was traveling west in a 2020 Volvo semi when he hit a cow. The semi sustained disabling damage. It was towed.
On Aug. 31:
● Hazel Green EMS reported hitting a deer at 8:22 p.m. on County W, Town of Benton. The 2017 Freightliner sustained minor damage.
Darlington Police
DARLINGTON — Margene Dagle, 59, Dodgeville, was transported by Darlington EMS to Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County for minor injuries sustained from a two-vehicle crash at 5:02 p.m. Aug. 11 on Main Street and Ann Street. Constance Heins, 71, Darlington, was eastbound and failed to yield the right-of-way to a northbound vehicle operated by Dagle and t-boned her. Both vehicles sustained severe damage. Both were towed by Al’s Towing of Darlington.
MONROE POLICE
MONROE — No injuries were reported from a two-vehicle accident at 8:08 p.m. Aug. 24 on 16th Street and 15th Avenue. Thomas G. Leuenberger, 59, Monroe, was traveling south on 15th Avenue, went through the intersection and hit a vehicle that was eastbound on 16th Street operated by a 38-year-old Monroe woman. His vehicle sustained minor damage. The other vehicle sustained moderate damage. He was cited for failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign.
On Aug. 30:
● A hit-and-run crash was reported at 8:49 a.m. in the W4700 block of Edelweiss Road, Town of New Glarus. This remains under investigation.
● Layla A. Johnson, 17, Monroe, was transported by Green County EMS for further medical evaluation for injuries sustained from a single-vehicle crash at 12:47 p.m. on Wis. 69 and Advance Road, Town of Clarno. She was traveling south when she swerved to avoid a deer and entered the south ditch. Her vehicle sustained minor damage with airbag deployment. It was towed. Monroe Rural Fire Department assisted.
● Michael R. Mucerino, 41, Blanchardville, was transported by ambulance for further medical evaluation for injuries sustained from a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash at 11:16 p.m. in the W8400 block of Wis. 81, Town of Jordan. He was parked in the eastbound lane and standing in the roadway removing debris when an eastbound vehicle operated by David C. Carter, 22, Argyle, hit him. Carter’s vehicle sustained moderate damage. Both vehicles were towed. Green County EMS, Argyle EMS and Browntown Fire Department assisted.
● No injuries were reported from a single-vehicle crash at 5:35 p.m. Aug. 31 on County P and Woodman Road, Town of Clarno. Investigation revealed a westbound vehicle was attempting to turn north onto Woodman Rd. when the driver slid on gravel and lost control hitting a stop sign and then entered a field. The vehicle sustained minor damage.
