Green County Sheriff

MONROE — Roger P. Dooley, 79, Monticello, reported no injuries from a two-vehicle accident at 11:31 a.m. Thursday, May 16, in the 200 block of South Garfield Street in Monticello. He was backing his vehicle when it collided with a legally parked, unoccupied vehicle. Both vehicles sustained damage. Dooley was able to drive his vehicle from the scene.

●  A vehicle in the ditch was reported at 7:57 a.m. Friday, May 17, in the W5000 block of County C, Town of Washington. Investigation revealed John P. Cadogan, 40, Monticello, had abandoned the vehicle after getting into an accident the previous evening at about 10 p.m. He was eastbound when he reported that he swerved to miss a deer in the road. His vehicle then went off the road, hit a mailbox and came to rest in the ditch. The vehicle sustained damage. Cadogan was uninjured. He was cited for failure to notify law enforcement of an accident and driving a motor vehicle without insurance. Monticello police assisted deputies in the investigation.

On Saturday, May 18:

●  Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash reported at 12:19 p.m. in the W2200 block of Wis. 11, Town of Spring Grove. Login G. Swearington, 21, Blanchardville, was westbound when he rear-ended the vehicle in front of him, driven by Patricia J. Liberatore, 63, Janesville. Swearington reported no injuries. A passenger in his vehicle, Chenoa F. Chaffee, 20, Blanchardville, sustained minor injuries but was not transported from the scene by EMS. Liberatore reported no injuries. A passenger in her vehicle, Lindsey J. Cox, 37, Janeville, sustained injuries and was transported by Green County EMS to the Monroe Clinic ER. Both vehicles sustained damage and were towed. Swearington was cited for following too closely. The Wisconsin State Patrol and Juda Fire Department assisted deputies at the scene.

●  Patricia A. Jelle, 61, Brooklyn, and her 3-year-old passenger sustained injuries in a one-vehicle crash reported at 4:13 p.m. in the W1700 block of Wis. 92, Town of Brooklyn. Jelle was eastbound when she reported that she fell asleep. The vehicle went into the south ditch, then collided with a fence and a power line pole before coming to rest. The vehicle sustained disabling damage with airbag deployment and was later towed. Jelle and her juvenile passenger were transported by Brooklyn EMS to the Mercyhealth Hospital ER in Janesville. Jelle was cited for inattentive driving and failure to maintain control of a vehicle. The Brooklyn Fire Department assisted deputies at the scene. Alliant Energy responded to the scene to repair the damaged power line pole.


Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON — On Thursday, May 16:

●  Savannah E. A. Babler, 28, South Wayne, reported hitting a deer at 7:05 p.m. on County D, Town of Wiota. No injuries were reported. Her 2019 GMC sustained minor damage.

●  Robert E. Diehl, 70, Freeport, reported hitting a deer at 9:44 a.m. on Wis. 78, Town of Gratiot. No injuries were reported. His 2013 GMC sustained minor damage.
