MONROE — On Saturday, June 15:

●  A two-vehicle accident with no injuries was reported at 8:55 a.m. in the 800 block of Wis. 69. Neal L. Strang, 59, Mazomanie, was northbound when he rear-ended a vehicle stopped at the red light. He was cited for inattentive driving. Both vehicles sustained minor damage. 

●  A two-vehicle accident with no injuries was reported at 3:03 p.m. on 10th Street at 15th Avenue. Rhonda K. Stagliano, 61, Monroe, was northbound on 15th Avenue when she hit a westbound vehicle on 10th Street. Stagliano was cited for failure to yield right-of-way from a stop sign. Her vehicle sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene. The other vehicle was towed.


Green County Sheriff

MONROE — Loss of livestock was reported in a one-vehicle crash in the N6300 block of Schneeberger Road, Town of Mount Pleasant, at 11:47 a.m. Thursday, June 27. Michael L. Zweifel, 50, Albany, was driving a truck pulling a loaded cattle trailer when he attempted to pass a tractor. The tires of the truck and cattle trailer entered the shoulder, causing the cattle trailer to go into the ditch and tip over. The trailer was loaded with 13 full-size cattle. One of the cattle died as a result of the crash. Zweifel was uninjured. His truck was undamaged, but the cattle trailer sustained damage. Both the truck and trailer were later driven from the scene.

●  Malik T. Caldwell, 23, New Glarus, and Craig P. Pitzer, 34, Blanchardville, reported no injuries from a crash involving two motorcycles in the N4400 block of County J, Town of Monroe. Deputies came across the accident scene at 4:13 a.m. Saturday, June 29. They found two damaged motorcycles but nobody in the area. Caldwell and Pitzer were later identified as the drivers and were determined to have fled the scene. Investigation revealed they were traveling together northbound when they came across deer and raccoons in the road. Caldwell and Pitzer said they swerved to avoid the animals, causing their motorcycles to crash. Caldwell and Pitzer reported wearing helmets and eye protection. They will both be cited for failure to maintain control of a vehicle, failure to report an accident to law enforcement and operating a motorcycle without a license.
