Monroe Police

MONROE — A two-vehicle accident with minor injuries was reported at about 11:50 p.m. Thursday, July 11. Edith K. McCollough, 68, Brodhead was eastbound on 6th Street and failed to stop for the stop sign at 22nd Avenue. She collided with a southbound vehicle on 22nd Avenue driven by a 61-year-old Monroe woman. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage. McCollough was cited for failure to yield right-of-way from a stop sign.

DARLINGTON — On Thursday, July 11:

●  A one-vehicle accident was reported at 7:57 a.m. on County Z, Town of Willow Springs.

On Friday, July 12:

●  Terry A. Hurley, 62, Darlington, reported hitting a deer at 3:22 a.m. on Wis. 81, Town of Darlington. The 2003 Chevrolet sustained minor damage.

●  A one-vehicle accident with no injuries was reported at 8:53 a.m. on County D, Town of Wiota. Caleb J. Visel, 16, Lena, lost control of his 2002 Ford, which went off the road and hit a road sign.

●  Jacqueline J. Leitzinger, 59, Shullsburg, reported hitting a deer at 9:18 p.m. on County E, Town of Darlington. The 2018 Toyota sustained minor damage.

On Saturday, July 13:

●  Weston H. Ritchie, 23, Darlington, reported hitting a deer at 11:43 a.m. on Rollercoaster Road, Town of Darlington. The 2018 Dodge Ram sustained minor damage.

On Sunday, July 14:

●  A two-vehicle accident was reported at 12:16 a.m. on County W, Town of Benton. Clint S. Bader, 37, Scales Mound, was eastbound when a westbound vehicle driven by Juan J. Ruiz, 23, Muscatine, Iowa, crossed the centerline and struck the trailer Bader was pulling. The 2008 GMC Ruiz was driving sustained severe damage and was towed. Bader’s 2019 Dodge was undamaged. The trailer sustained minor damage. Ruiz was cited for unsafe lane deviation and driving without proof of vehicle insurance. Benton First Response, the Benton Fire Department and Hazel Green EMS assisted deputies on scene.

●  A motorcycle vs. deer accident was reported at 9:04 p.m. on Wis. 78, Town of Argyle. Matthew G. Long, 36, Woodford, was driving his 2015 Harley Davidson when a deer ran into the roadway. Long turned to avoid a collision, and the motorcycle went into the ditch. The motorcycle sustained moderate damage and was towed. Argyle EMS, the Woodford Fire Department and Woodford First Response assisted.
