MONROE — Minor injuries were reported from a two-vehicle accident at 4:51 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1. Dawn M. Skattum, 62, Argyle, was southbound on 6th Avenue West when she collided with Barbara L. Rufi, 79, Monroe, as Rufi was turning left onto 6th Avenue West from West 7th Street. The impact caused Skattum’s vehicle to roll onto its roof. She was extricated by the Monroe Fire Department and transported by Green County EMS to a hospital. Her vehicle was severely damaged. Rufi was uninjured, and her vehicle sustained minor damage. Skattum was cited for failure to obey a red traffic light.

MONROE — On Tuesday, July 30:
● Abigail S. Maiella, 20, Durand, Illinois, and Brian J. Sherman, 62, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, reported injuries from a two-vehicle crash at 3:34 a.m. in the Town of Spring Grove. Maiella was southbound on County T when she failed to yield right-of-way from a stop sign at the intersection with Wis. 81. Her vehicle collided with Sherman’s vehicle. Sherman was transported from the scene by ambulance. Both vehicles sustained severe damage and airbag deployment and were towed. Maiella was cited for failure to yield right-of-way. The Brodhead Fire Department, Brodhead EMS and the Rock County Sheriff’s Office assisted deputies on scene.
● Three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash reported at 5:21 p.m. in the Town of New Glarus. Danyelle L. Bollig, 33, Belleville, was northbound on Wis. 69 and attempting to turn left onto Old Madison Road when she was rear-ended by a vehicle driven by Carlos A. Morales-Pino, 50, Madison. Bollig’s vehicle overturned and came to rest in the ditch. Morales-Pino’s vehicle came to rest in the roadway. Bollig reported she was not wearing a seatbelt. She sustained injuries and was taken by EMS to a hospital in Madison. An adult passenger in her vehicle reported seatbelt usage and was also transported to the hospital with injuries. Bollig’s vehicle sustained damage with airbag deployment. It was towed. Morales-Pino reported wearing a seatbelt. He was also transported to the hospital with injuries. His vehicle sustained damage with airbag deployment. It was towed. Morales-Pino was cited for following too closely. The New Glarus Fire Department and New Glarus EMS assisted deputies on scene.
On Wednesday, July 31:
● Two tractor drivers were taken to the Monroe Clinic ER for treatment of injuries they sustained in an accident reported at 3:43 p.m. in the W6600 block of Dividing Ridge Road, Town of Washington. Ronald E. Martini, 78, Monroe, was eastbound on a farm tractor hauling manure. He attempted to turn onto a field access drive when the tractor experienced a mechanical issue, overturned and slid down an embankment. Edward J. Koca, 83, Monticello, was operating another farm tractor hauling manure and traveling with Martini. Koca reported that when he saw Martini’s tractor crash, he tried to downshift, which caused a malfunction in his tractor. The tractor and trailer then jack-knifed. The Monticello Fire Department and Green County EMS assisted deputies at the scene.
● No injuries were reported from a two-vehicle crash on Wis. 81 east of County N at 6:48 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2. Randall E. Slotten, 65, Caledonia, Michigan, was westbound when he became distracted by his GPS unit and attempted to change lanes. He collided with a vehicle driven by Antonia R. Vasquez, 45, Monroe. Both vehicles came to rest on the side of the road. Slotten and his adult passenger were uninjured, as was Vasquez. Both vehicles sustained functional damage but were driven from the scene. Slotten was cited for inattentive driving.
● Brian D. Bartels, 40, Beloit, was injured in a motorcycle vs. turkey vulture accident reported in the W2400 block of County F, Town of Decatur, at 6:48 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3. He was westbound when a turkey vulture flew into the roadway and hit him, causing him to lose control of his motorcycle, which then went off the road and slid onto its side. Bartels was transported by Albany EMS to the Monroe Clinic ER. He was wearing a helmet. The motorcycle sustained damage and was removed from the scene. The turkey vulture was found deceased. The Albany Fire Department assisted deputies on scene.

DARLINGTON — On Sunday, July 28:
● Adam C. Hanson, 44, Blanchardville, reported hitting a deer at 9:45 a.m. on Old Q Road, Town of Blanchard. No injuries were reported. His 2018 Chevrolet sustained minor damage.
