MONROE — A two-vehicle hit-and-run crash with no injuries was reported in the 700 block of 17th Street at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22. The vehicle that left the scene was located a few minutes later in the 1100 block of 16th Street. An investigation found the driver, Alyssa D. Fisher, 29, Monroe, was southbound on Wis. 69 when she turned eastbound onto 17th Street and collided with a vehicle stopped at the stop sign facing west on 17th Street, driven by a 30-year-old Monroe. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage. Fisher was cited for operating left of the centerline, hit-and-run, failure to notify police of an accident and driving with a suspended license.


Green County Sheriff

MONROE — On Thursday, Aug. 22:

●  A two-vehicle crash was reported at 6:44 a.m. in the Town of Jefferson. Larry A. Strothman, 32, Juda, was northbound on County S approaching the intersection with Wis. 11 when he continued through the intersection and collided with a westbound vehicle on Wis. 11, driven by Wayne R. Gratz, 66, Brodhead. After the collision, both vehicles came to rest in the north ditch. Gratz reported no injuries. His vehicle sustained disabling damage, with airbag deployment. It was towed. Strothman had minor injuries and was transported by Green County EMS to the Monroe Clinic ER. His vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed. Strothman was cited for driving with a revoked license, failure to yield right-of-way from a stop sign, failure to install an ignition interlock device and violating a driver’s license restriction. He was jailed on a Wisconsin Department of Corrections probation hold. The Juda Fire Department and Wisconsin State Patrol assisted deputies on scene.

●  A vehicle vs. tractor crash was reported at 3 p.m. in the N6800 block of County N, Town of Washington. A farm tractor operator from rural Monticello was northbound and attempting to turn into a driveway when a southbound vehicle on County N collided with the tractor. The tractor operator was uninjured. The tractor sustained damage but was driven from the scene. The driver of the southbound vehicle, Larry J. Allen, 68, Monroe, was injured in the crash and taken by Green County EMS to the Monroe Clinic ER. His vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed. He was cited for having open intoxicants in a motor vehicle. The Monticello Fire Department assisted deputies on scene.

On Friday, Aug. 23:

●  No injuries were reported from a two-vehicle crash at 4:23 p.m. in the Town of Clarno. Jason T. Mathews, 39, Dakota, Illinois, was northbound on Wis. 69 when he rear-ended a vehicle driven by Scott A. Lewis, 48, Orangeville, as Lewis slowed to turn onto County B. Both vehicles sustained minor damage. Mathews was cited for following too closely, driving without proof of vehicle insurance and non-registration of an auto.

On Saturday, Aug. 24:

●  No injuries were reported from a two-vehicle crash at 8:29 a.m. in the Town of Monroe. Sofia Olmos De Schafer, 42, Monroe, was westbound on Wis. 11 when Bradley D. Voegeli, 51, Monroe, attempted to pass her. Olmos De Schafer began to turn onto Patterson Road and collided with the passenger side of Voegeli’s vehicle. Olmos De Schafer’s vehicle sustained moderate damage and was later towed. Voegeli’s vehicle sustained minor damage. Voegeli was cited for passing in a no-passing zone.

●  A vehicle in the ditch was reported at 9:41 p.m. at the intersection of County B and County M, Town of Cadiz. Jeffrey R. Waefler, 47, Monroe, was southbound on County M when he failed to negotiate a turn and entered the ditch. He was uninjured. The vehicle sustained moderate damage, with airbag deployment. It was towed. Waefler was arrested on a first-offense charge of operating while under the influence of alcohol. He was later released to a responsible party pending court.


Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON — On Wednesday, Aug. 21:

●  A one-vehicle accident was reported at 7:42 a.m. on South Mound Avenue in Belmont. Laverne E. Tippett, 70, Belmont, was entering an alley when he hit a utility pole with his 2015 GMC Sierra. The vehicle sustained minor damage.

●  Chandler M. Kelly, 17, Shullsburg, reported hitting a deer at 7:56 p.m. on Dry Bone Road, Town of New Diggings. No injuries were reported. The 2012 Ford sustained severe damage and was towed.
