Monroe Police 

MONROE — A 56-year-old Monroe woman was transported by ambulance to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries following a two-vehicle accident in the 100 block of 18th Avenue at 5:19 p.m. Monday, April 22. The other driver, Kenneth Huber, 49, Arpin, had collided with her vehicle. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage. Huber was cited for inattentive driving.


Green County Sheriff

MONROE — A two-vehicle crash caused by debris in the road was reported in the N3600 block of Wis. 69, Town of Monroe, at 1:49 p.m. Monday, April 22. Janet J. Ernst, 59, Freeport, was northbound when the driver in front of her, Sadie E. McCook-Berner, 16, Warren, slammed on her brakes to avoid hitting a large bag of garbage that fell off a truck traveling in front of her. Ernst was unable to avoid hitting McCook-Berner’s vehicle. Ernst and her adult passenger reported no injuries. The Ernst vehicle sustained damage but was driven from the scene. McCook-Berner and one of her passengers reported no injuries, but a second passenger, Jason R. Herbst, 36, Gratiot, reported minor injuries from the crash. The McCook-Berner vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed. The driver of the truck that lost the bag of garbage was identified as Barbara A. Smith, 65, Monticello. She was cited for failure to secure load.

●  A tractor vs. school bus crash was reported in the W300 block of Wis. 59, Town of Albany, at 8:03 p.m. Tuesday, April 23. The bus driver, Craig A. Jorgenson, 63, South Wayne, was attempting to pass a tractor when it turned into a field drive and the passenger side of the bus collided with the tractor. No injuries were reported by Jorgenson or the tractor driver, Luke D. Bailey, 25, Oregon. No students on the bus reported injuries. Both vehicles sustained minor damage. Jorgenson was cited for passing into oncoming traffic.


Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON — On Wednesday, April 24:

●  Eric P. Wesner, 44, Mineral Point, reported hitting a deer at 5:44 a.m. on Wis. 23, Town of Darlington. His 2011 Toyota sustained minor damage.

●  Brad L. Werner, 43, Scales Mound, Illinois, reported hitting a deer at 5:52 a.m. on County W, Town of New Diggings. His 2007 GMC sustained minor damage.
