Zelma M. Germann age 104 of Monroe, died Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. Zelma was born September 17, 1910 in Clarno Township, Green County, the daughter of Samuel Boss and Sophia (Wuetrich) Boss Rufenacht. Zelma married Henry L. Germann on October 24, 1934 at St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church. She worked at the Swiss Colony, Steinmann's Grocery, and along with her husband owned and operated Germann's Grocery from 1953 until 1965. She later was employed at St. Clare Hospital as a nurses Aide until retiring in 1980. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, enjoyed bowling in the Friday night league, and loved crocheting, crossword puzzles, playing cards, and reading.

She is survived by her daughter, Judith Walters of Platteville; four grandchildren, Laura (Jeff) Schwarz of Sun Prairie, Gary (Marcie) Germann II of Middleton, Lisa (Michael) Reese of Sun Prairie, and James (Ann) Walters of Mableton, GA; seven great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Germann of Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry, in July, 1964; a son, Gary Germann in Oct., 1991; a daughter-in-law, Joann Germann in Sept., 2006; son-in-law, John Walters in April, 2014; brothers, Sam, Albert, Alfred, Edward, and Glenn Boss; and sisters, Ella Isely, Inez Trickel, Marie Dearth, and Alma Boss in infancy.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, with Rev. Todd Hackman officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at St. John's UCC. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund will be established in Zelma's name.

Zelma's family would like to thank the staff of Pleasant View Nursing Home for their wonderful care of Zelma throughout the years.
