Wilma E. Hansen

Wilma E. Hansen, age 99, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2009 at the Monroe Manor Nursing Home. She was born on November 18, 1909 in Woodford, the daughter of Herman and Louise (Karlen) Brecklin. She attended Woodford Schools. Wilma married Irven Hansen on January 30, 1929 at the East Wiota Parsonage. She farmed with her husband in Woodford, Wiota and Lamont, IL. Wilma also worked for the Swiss Colony for many years, retiring in 1983.

Wilma was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and an Honorary member of the American Legion. She enjoyed playing cards at the Golden Age club.

She is survived by a daughter, Lorraine (Sylvan) Waage of Monroe; brother, Gail (Frances) Brecklin of Monroe; sisters, Esther Elmer and Gladys (Otto) Schild, both of Monroe; 4 grandchildren: David Waage, Linda Johnson, Audrey Catalano and Richard Waage; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, J. Edward Brecklin and Glen Brecklin; and a sister, Erma Anderson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 3, 2009 at Grace Lutheran Church, with Pastor John Tabaka officiating. Burial will be in East Wiota Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Shriner-Hager-Gohlke funeral home is assisting the family.
