Werner A. Sulzer, age 88, of Monroe, died on June 25, 2013 at his son's home in Dubuque, IA, surrounded by his family. He was born on January 26, 1925 in South Wayne, WI the son Andrew and Marie (Moore) Sulzer Sr.
Werner and Berneice Bahe were married on April 21, 1948 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Monroe.
Werner was a lifetime cheesemaker and owned and operated the Petersburg Cheese company for many years, retiring in 1995. After retirement he was employed by Swiss Colony as a seasonal employee.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Werner enjoyed going to or watching rodeos, watching "Ice Road Truckers," going to Mopars on the Mississippi yearly car show in Dubuque, IA, talking about cars, playing euchre, having Tyler his dog with him, but most of all keeping in touch with family and friends.
Surviving are his children: David W. Sulzer of West Allis, WI, Dan (Marilyn) Sulzer of Dubuque, IA, Joy L. Lawry of N. Fond du Lac, WI, Thomas J. Sulzer of Yonkers, NY; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his parents, his wife Berneice and brothers Alfred and Andrew.
Private funeral services will be held at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home in Monroe with Pastor Ronald E. Massen officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
