Wendell G. Zimmerman, age 92, of Monroe, died on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at the Monroe Manor. He was born on May 24, 1922 in Illinois, the son of Ira and Minnie (Schock) Zimmerman.
Wendell and Jennie Sacker were married on December 8, 1946 in Brodhead.
Wendell farmed in the Orangeville area, on the family farm, until his retirement.
He was an avid Chicago Cubs Fan and attended many of the grandchildren's sporting events.
He is survived by his wife, Jennie Zimmerman of Monroe; daughter, Linda (Duane) Bartelt of Rock City, IL; son, Jim Zimmerman of Monroe; sister, Doris (Francis) Tielkemeier of Rock City, IL; 6 grandchildren, Angela Myers, Michael (Nancy) Bartelt, Christopher Bartelt, Scott Zimmerman, Brenda (Chad) Ringhand and John (Lindsay Dodge) Zimmerman, and 9 great-grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his parents; sisters, Wilma, Millie, Marjorie and Grace.
Graveside services will be held Friday, February 13, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe, with Reverend David Busker officiating.
