Wayne E. Stamm, age 92, of rural Monroe, died on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. He was born on August 18, 1922 in Freeport, IL; the son of Frank and Vada (Kotz) Stamm and attended Ullom School and Monroe High School.

Wayne and Geraldine R. Rothenbuehler were married on June 16, 1948 at the Evangelical United Bretheran Church in Monroe.

Wayne farmed in the Green County area for many years, as did his forefathers; and did custom farm work for area farmers and worked at Swiss Colony until retiring. Wayne was able to befriend a stranger and was willing to help anyone who approached him.

Wayne was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, enjoyed motorcycle riding and spending time with family.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine of Monroe, children: Marcia (Don) Simler and Christine (Roger) Alston both of Monroe; Melody (Patrick) Mulhall of New Glarus; brothers, George (Shirley) Stamm of Monroe, Terry (Carol) Stamm of Murfreesboro, TN; sister, Coyla Sue (Richard) Brick of Caledonia, IL; Kay Bunn of Murfreesboro, TN; 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Wayne is predeceased by his parents, and brother, Robert.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 12, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ with Rev. Todd Hackman officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday, December 12th from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church.

A memorial fund is being established in Wayne's memory.
