Walter W. Dunlavy II, age 67, of Brodhead, died on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at his home. He was born on April 2, 1941 in Winslow, IL, the son of Walter W. and Helen S. (Gibbons) Dunlavy. He attended the Green County Normal School in Monroe. Walter was a handyman, fixing, repairing and doing any task that he could for others. He enjoyed gardening, listening to country music, watching TV, especially the Packers and Badger Football games. He loved to fish, camp and spend time with his family. Walter was always ready to help whenever needed.
He is survived by his sisters, Mary (Ken) Neuenschwander of Brodhead, Donna (Ray) Knutsen of Rockford, IL; brothers, Robert (Betty) Dunlavy of Monroe, Charles (Karen) Dunlavy of Winslow, IL, Donald (Jill) Dunlavy of Warren, IL; sister-in-law, Joyce Dunlavy of Freeport, IL; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Cliff Clark, Donald Cleveland and Dolly Restivo, all of Brodhead; and his feline companions, Louisiana and Georgia. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Paul, Francis and Joseph.
A celebration of Walter's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home, Monroe. Officiating will be Pastor Lowell Stuessy, with burial in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in rural Argyle. Memorials may be directed to the Green County Humane Society or American Cancer Society.
