Traffic Accidents: Sept. 5, 2014

MONROE - On Wednesday:

• Jeff R. Stauffacher, 48, Monroe, was uninjured in a deer vs. vehicle accident that occurred on County KK at Wisconsin 11, Town of Sylvester, at 7:33 a.m. Stauffacher was westbound on County KK when a deer ran into the roadway and hit his vehicle. The vehicle was moderately damaged and driven from the scene.

• No injuries were reported in a traffic accident that occurred in the W6800 block of Farmers Grove Road, Town of New Glarus, at 8:05 p.m. Adam D. Steinmann, 32, Monroe, was driving a farm tractor with a forage box in tow carrying a load of hay silage in the forage box. Steinmann was eastbound on Farmers Grove Road going up a hill when the draw bar on the tractor snapped. The forage box detached and rolled backwards down the hill hitting a utility pole and overturning into a ditch. Farmers Grove Road had to be closed to traffic for four hours, and about 30 residents lost power.

• David L. Chaffee, 49, Blanchardville, and his passenger were uninjured in a deer vs. vehicle crash that occurred in the W3600 block of Wis. 11, Town of Sylvester, at 8:37 p.m. Chaffee was westbound when a deer ran into the roadway and hit his vehicle. The vehicle was moderately damaged and towed from the scene by a third party.



Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON - A mailbox and decorative planter were damaged by an unknown vehicle that fled the scene on West Mound Road, Belmont Township. The suspect vehicle was described to law enforcement as white in color and likely missing a side mirror which was recovered at the scene at 3:33 p.m. Wednesday.
