MONROE - No injuries were reported from a one-vehicle accident at about at about 7:30 p.m. Thursday on County K, east of County S in the Town of Jefferson. Deputies report Mathew P. Thies, 27, Monroe, was westbound on County K, negotiating a curve, when he saw three deer standing in the roadway. He attempted to swerve to miss them, but ended up entering the north ditch and going down a steep embankment, striking several smalls trees before coming to a rest. The vehicle received severe damage and was towed from the scene.
A vehicle driven by Donald J. Vollmer, 64, New Glarus, and a deer collided at about 6:45 p.m. Thursday on Wisconsin 39 east of Wis. 78 in the Town of York. The vehicle received moderate damage and was driven from the scene. Vollmer was cited for mandatory seatbelt violation and was released pending court.
