Steven Edward Boyum, age 69, of Clinton, died on Sunday, January 17, 2010 in the Alden Meadow Park Health Care in Clinton under the care of Beloit Regional Hospice. He was born May 10, 1940 in Madison, WI, the son of Sidney and Louise (Klassy) Boyum. Steven was a well known artist in the Madison, WI area having lived in Monticello and Monroe, WI.

Steve was the son of Sid, a well-known Madison artist, and Margarite (Klassy) Boyum.

While attending high school, he played in the band and was a member of the great "Ponies" basketball team that nearly made it to State.

After graduating from Monticello High School, Steve completed work at Layton School of Art in Milwaukee, and additional art studies in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. As a starving artist, Steve supplemented his income as an interior-exterior house painter.

Although a bit of a Bohemian (after all, he had to survive the 60's), his artistic side gave him a good perspective on life. He was fair, honest, and a gentleman at all times.

Steven is survived by his son Sebastian "Seb" Boyum of Milwaukee and close friend Joan Soares of Clinton.

A Celebration of "Big" Steve's life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 30, at the Boar's nest in Monticello.

Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home is assisting the family.
