Stanley L. Stocker, age 69 of Monroe, died on Friday, May 4, 2012 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on July 24, 1942 in Brodhead, the son of Rueben and Jessie (Pinnow) Stocker. He attended Juda High School. Stanley and Ruth Portmann were married on May 19, 1962 at St. John's United Church of Christ and shared over 50 years together. He worked for Kelly Springfield Tires in Freeport, IL for 32 years, retiring in 1999, where he was a member of the United Rubber Workers, Local 745. Stanley had many interests, he enjoyed fishing, camping, old cars, taking pictures of old barns and framing them in barn board, but most of all he loved spending time with his family, friends and spoiling his grandchildren. Stan was also involved in painting miniature replicas of Rumely oil-coal tractors.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Stocker; son, Bryan (Allison) Stocker; daughters, Robin Stocker-Schneider, Shawn (Brett) Stocker-Ambrose, Trudi (Scott) Heinz; 8 grandchildren and a sister, Janice (Henry) Viel; also nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents and brother, Donald.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral home, with Rev. David Busker officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
