Shirley I. Golaxon, age 84 of Monroe, died on Friday, March 20, 2009 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. She was born on February 23, 1925 in Browntown, the daughter of Harry and Idah (Seiter) Golackson. Shirley was raised by two different families, first by Anna Beal and later by Ruth Golaxon. She graduated from Beloit High School in 1943 and from Rockford Business College in 1945. She was an accountant for Bryden Motors in Beloit, retiring in 1978. She was a member of the Womens Business Club and Womens Accounting Club. Shirley enjoyed music, art, crossword puzzles, reading and most of all her dogs.

Surviving are her nephews, Jerry (Elena) Marty of Chantilly, VA and Terry (Sue) Heinzelman of Monroe; nieces, Judy Siegel of Madison, Karen (Don) Rule of Monroe, and Lana (Dave) Haffele of Monroe. Shirley was predeceased by her parents; sisters: Ruth as a baby, Dorothy Heinzelman, Betty Marty, Jean LaTour, Phyllis Boulais and Ilene Fox; brother, Glen Beal; and a nephew Steve Heinzelman.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home in Monroe with Pastor Ray Sowersby officiating. Burial will be in Jordan Lutheran Cemetery.

A visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
