Ruth M. Emery, age 89, of Argyle, WI passed away Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Monroe, WI. She was born March 13, 1922 in Argyle, WI to Victor B. and Marie M. (Nelson) Rossing, Sr. Ruth graduated as Valedictorian from Argyle High School in 1939. That year Ruth played in the Wisconsin All Star Orchestra as a cellist. She received a Bachelors of Science in Nutrition from UW-Madison in 1943. At the university she played in the orchestra from 1940 to 1943, and was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. Ruth practiced as a registered dietitian over the years at hospitals in Indiana, Boston, and Philadelphia. Ruth enlisted in the US Army in 1944, and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant on board the US Army Hospital Ship Wisteria out of New York. She was honorably discharged in 1945. She was united in marriage to John Robert Emery on May 24, 1947. Following her marriage, Ruth and Bob lived in Boston, Delaware, Virginia, New Jersey and Geneva, Switzerland. Born and raised in Argyle, she retired there in 1984, where she and her family farmed and established Yellowstone Golf Course.

Ruth is survived by her three children: Victoria Ann (Duan) Damron, Janesville, WI, John Robert (Ann) Emery, rural Argyle, and Susan Marie Emery, Lansdale, PA; five grandchildren: Dack Damron, Duke Damron, Jack Emery, Peter Emery, and Valarie (Kris) Baumann; two great-grandchildren: Kody and Kaleb Baumann; two brothers: David Rossing, Argyle, Victor Bernell Rossing, Jr., Oshkosh, WI; and eight nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob on August 27, 2004; two sisters: Charlotte and Dorothy Rossing; a brother: William Rossing; twin brothers at birth; and a nephew.

Ruth was a member of Cornerstone Lutheran Church. She was an avid reader. In her younger years, Ruth enjoyed gardening, landscaping, sewing, spending time with her friends, and traveling to places around the globe.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Cornerstone Lutheran Church (1540 Old Highway 81, Argyle 53504) with Rev. Ron Brubakken officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Argyle with Military Graveside Rites to be accorded by Argyle American Legion Post # 251. A visitation will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2011 from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home and Crematory in Argyle, WI.
