Roy D. Figi, age 86 of Monroe, passed away at his home Thursday, November 10, 2016 surrounded by his loving family after a long illness. He was born on May 24, 1930, the son of Carl and Mabel (Gordee) Figi. Roy grew up on a farm in Juda, WI and graduated from Juda High School in 1948.

On Aug. 20, 1955 Roy was united in marriage to the love of his life, Therese (Crotty). They were married in a double wedding ceremony with his twin brother Ray and Therese's sister, Joan. Together they farmed and raised one son and five daughters. Roy loved life and knew how to work hard and play hard. He received the "Outstanding Young Farmer Award" in 1964 which was awarded based on exceptional progress in agriculture and contribution to the community. Roy also served as a Director of Mid-West Dairymen Company for several years, served on the Juda School board, and worked with a group of local snowmobile activists to start the first Green County snowmobile club. He was a member of St. Victor's Catholic Church, volunteered for the Apostolate to the Handicapped, and a Monroe Lions Club member. Roy and Therese spent their retirement traveling to AZ, FL, and CA. Roy was full of life and enjoyed golfing, dancing, and all Wisconsin sports.

Roy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. Survivors are his six children; Terri (Jim) Martin, Middleton, Jane (Kevin) Monahan, Monroe, Tom (Carol) Figi, Juda, Colleen (Larry) Morse, Orange, CA., Diane (Jeff ) Conway, Monroe, Mary (Jeff) Grundahl, Hollandale; thirteen grandchildren, Travis Martin, Sheila Caruso, Lindsey Baker, Matthew Monahan, TJ Figi, Steve Figi, Kerri Jones, Larry Morse, Riley Morse, Meghan Schramer, Courtney Jeremiason, Mitch Daubert and Alie Rose Grundahl; and fourteen great-grandchildren with one on the way.

He is further survived by two brothers, Bernard (Joyce) Figi, Durand, IL, Ray (Joan) Figi, Cuba City; and a sister Anita Gerber, Wausau. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Therese, on Feb. 25, 2007; a brother, Boyd Figi; and sisters Carol Gavigan and Florence Ubert.

Roy had a subtle sense of humor and was a master of the dramatic pause before he hit the perfect punch line. He was blessed with a beautiful voice and was a self-taught yodeler. He often sang "lets live awhile before we say good-bye" and this is so how Roy lived his life.

If desired, memorials may be made in Roy's name to the Monroe Clinic Hospice or the Thomas S Campion Charitable Fund. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 14, 2016, at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church, Monroe, with Monsignor Larry Bakke officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Monroe followed by a luncheon at the Monroe Moose Lodge. The visitation will be held on Sunday, November 13, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
