JANESVILLE - A Rock County man died early Friday, Jan. 6, after a rollover crash on U.S. 14 east of Janesville.
Isaias Izara Cabrera, 28, of 13139 E. U.S. 14 in the Town of Bradford, was pronounced dead at 7:55 a.m. from severe head injuries sustained in the one-vehicle accident, according to a news release from the Rock County Sheriff's Department.
A driver passing by the scene of the crash called 911 to report an extensively damaged car lying on its roof just east of Emerald Grove Road. Deputies and Clinton Fire/EMS personnel were dispatched at 6:58 a.m. to the scene.
Deputies say Cabrera was driving a gold-colored 1999 Toyota Corolla at high speeds when the vehicle left the road and hit a small grove of trees, sending it airborne.
The vehicle landed on its roof, pinning Cabrera inside. He was wearing a seatbelt and was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
Excessive speed appears to be the main contributing factor in the crash, according to deputies' investigation. Lab results are pending to determine if alcohol was also a factor.
