Robert Wehinger, age 81, passed away peacefully and with grace at his home on March 5, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 15th, 1928 in Monroe, WI where he lived a very full life. He has joined, in heaven, his parents Albert and Mary, sister Margaret (Davis), brother Frank, son Greg and daughter Jane. He married Rosemary Speich on January 10, 1953 at St. Victor Catholic Church, Monroe.

Bob wore many hats during his life including being an Army Veteran of the Korean War, a Monroe police officer, a cheesemaker, a dairy farmer and a caretaker at Greenwood cemetery for the past 30 years (from which he retired 4 weeks ago), but most important to him, and to everyone dear to him, was his dedication to family and friends. His proudest accomplishment was obtaining his pilots license and flying airplanes, including a Piper Cub, which afforded him great joy. He and his son Greg shared that passion for airplanes and spent many hours building and flying model airplanes. The EAA air show at Oshkosh was a favorite family destination. In his earlier years, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle was a source of much delight.

Another of his longtime loves was fishing in Northern Wisconsin. Many fish fries occurred over the years between Sunset Resort on Bear Lake and more recently, Brandy Lake. Uncountable hands of cards were played and hundreds of puzzles were put together over the years. He also enjoyed eating honeycomb, real maple syrup by the spoonful and limburger cheese.

He leaves behind his wife of 57 years Rosemary Wehinger; daughters Susie Wehinger (Bob Taylor), Nancy Wehinger and adopted daughter Kara Yaeger; grandchildren Paul Taylor, Kris Kolpin (Scott), Michael Taylor (Yer Lor and children Luna and Troy), and Lindsey Taylor; sisters, Mary Gibbons, Rose Craigo, Emma Wenger; and brother-in-law, Delton Davis (Jo). The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Palliative Care Team and the nurses and staff of Hospice of the Monroe Clinic.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at 11:30 a.m., at St. Victor Catholic Church with Father Michael Klarer officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be given in Bob's name to the Monroe Clinic Hospice. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family. To send a condolence go to www.newcomerfuneralhome.net.

When tomorrow starts without me and I'm not there to see the sun that shines upon your eyes, which are filled with tears for me. I wish so much you wouldn't cry the way you did today. While thinking of the many things we didn't do or say. I know how very much you love me, as much as I love you, and each time that you think of me I know you"ll miss me too. But when tomorrow starts without me don't think we're far apart, for every time you think of me I'm right there in your heart.
