Robert J. "Bob" Gill, age 90, of rural Shullsburg, WI passed away Sunday, September 20, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in rural Cuba City on September 3, 1925 the son of Enos and Mary Velma (Tarrell) Gill. Bob was united in marriage to Margery Moody on November 27, 1949 at Belmont United Methodist Church in Belmont, WI. He grew up in rural Cuba City, WI, where he farmed with his family until 1953. Bob, Margery and his parents then moved to the Dunbarton area where they continued to farm and raise their family. Bob farmed his entire life and when he could no longer help with the milking he worked on machinery, ran for parts, and did field work.

Bob is survived by fiancé: Joyce Zeal of Warren, IL; four children: Randy (Julie) Gill and Rick (Lee) Gill both of rural Shullsburg, Reg (Carol) Gill of Cuba City, and Dawn (Chris) Lacy of Fort Davis, TX; eleven grandchildren: Brett (Jennifer) Gill, Brad (Tara) Gill, Brooke (Casey) Fennell, Brittany (Travis) Lyne, Brock (Karen) Gill, Lindsey (Pete) Poppy, Reid (Jenna) Gill, Ashley (Kevin) Frontz, Matthew (Eryn) Roelli, Elias Gill, and Levi (Amanda) Gill; 26 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Gwen Gill of Racine, WI, Myrtle Van Natta of Platteville, WI, and Mary Moody of Normal, IL; and friend and former son-in-law: Richard (Shari) Roelli of rural Darlington. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on October 21, 1996; one son Rodney Gill in 1979; one grandson: Jakob Roelli in 2011; two brothers: Paul (Theda) Gill and Allen Gill; and two brothers-in-law: Orville Moody and Donald Van Natta.

Bob was a member of Apple River United Methodist Church and its church council. He was a 50 year Mason and currently a member of Amicitia Lodge #25 Free and Accepted Masons of Shullsburg. Bob was also a past member of the Dunbarton and Shullsburg School Boards, and Monticello Township Board. He loved spending time with his family and was very proud of all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bob had a knack for woodworking, and metal fabrication, and looked forward to camping. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed traveling. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 25, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Apple River United Methodist Church (102 East Baldwin Street, Apple River, IL) with Rev. Joey Garcea and Rev. John Wesley Lee co-officiating. A visitation will be held Thursday, September 24, 2015 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the church where Masonic services will be held at 8:00 P.M. and on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services. The family would like to thank Dr. Matthew Solverson and the staff at Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County, nine very special care givers, and Saint Croix Hospice for their excellent care and concern over the past several months.
