Robert F. "Bob" Bayrhoffer, age 84, of Monroe died Thursday, March 10, 2011.

He was born November 2, 1926 in Monroe, the son of Theodore and Anna (Mau) Bayrhoffer. Bob graduated from Monroe High School and attended U.W. Platteville. He entered the U.S. Air Force on January 3, 1951 and was honorably discharged on October 2, 1952. Bob married Caroline B. "Kay" Olson on June 9, 1957 in Monroe, she preceded him in death on March 5, 2006.

Bob farmed for many years in Green County and he and Kay owned and operated the Alphorn Motel for 30 years.

He was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church and enjoyed hunting, golfing, biking, walking, and traveling with Kay.

He is survived by two daughters, Christine Mueller of Monroe, and Roberta Bayrhoffer of Long Beach, CA; three grandchildren, Devan, Jamie, and Kaylee; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Marion Heuer and Frances Melville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Bruce Bayrhoffer; a brother, Ted Bayrhoffer; and a sister, Gladys Steinmann.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 14, 2011, at 1:00 p.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe. Rev. Randy Booth of the Monroe United Methodist Church, will officiate with interment to follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund will be established in his name.
