WINDSOR - Robert D. Bruegger, 87, passed away after a long battle with cancer. He died peacefully in his home with his family by his side on November 23, 2017. He was born September 21, 1930 in Monroe. He was drafted into the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 and served in the Korean War. He married Carol D. Harrington on July 8, 1951. He farmed in the Monroe area until he went to work for Northwest Airlines where he worked for over 30 years, until his retirement. Bob loved anything to do with airplanes, camping, hiking, bowling, gardening, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was quiet, but funny. He was loved by his many nieces and nephews!

He will be deeply missed by his many family and friends, including his loving wife of 66 years, Carol; his children, Robert, Jr. (Jan), Kimberly (Tony) Rekawik, William (Bernice) and Daniel. He is further survived by ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Stanley and sister, Natalie Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Rose and brothers, Herman, Jr. "Bud" and William.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 1, 2017 at NORWAY GROVE MEMORIAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 820 River Road, DeForest, with Rev. Stacy Gahlman officiating. Burial will follow at Norway Grove Cemetery with military honors provided by DeForest American Legion Post 348. Visitation will be on Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service.
