Richard B. Graf 94, of Elyria, OH died Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the Bradley Bay Health Center in Bay Village, OH after a short illness. He had suffered from declining health for several years. Richard Bard Graf was born September 7, 1920 at his family's farm in rural Collinsville, OH. He graduated from Miami University in 1942, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Lawrence in the Pacific Theater. He married Kathryn Kolb February 5, 1945. After the war he worked as a mechanical engineer in Chicago and Marengo, IL, before he owned and operated Lanz Hardware in Monroe, WI from 1972 to 1990, when he retired. He and his wife moved to Mt. Vernon, OH where they lived for several years before moving to Elyria, OH. He was a Boy Scout Leader, and local school board member. He was an avid fisherman and gardener, he and his wife Kathryn loved to travel. Richard is survived by his wife of sixty-nine years: Kathryn E. Graf of the Abbewood Senior Living Community in Elyria, OH, additional survivors include his daughters: Mary Graf of Fairview Park, OH, Josephine Graf of Grafton, OH, and sons: Richard P. Graf of Centerville, OH and Philip Graf of Rolling Meadows, IL, Joseph Graf of Arlington, VA. He is also survived by five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren. No visitation or service is scheduled. Family and friends will gather for a memorial service at a later date.
