Richard A. Bennett, 56, of Caseyville, IL, formerly of Freeport and Monroe, died on Nov. 2, 2009 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL. Born on October 27, 1953 in Beloit, WI, he is a son of Aurther and Yvonne (Schwitz) Bennett.

He delivered papers for the Monroe Times and then delivered papers for the Freeport Journal Standard for 15 years. He is a member of the Gospel Outreach Church. Richard was an infamous car fanatic.

He is survived by his children: Robert (Eileen) Bennett, Rudy (Kathryn) Bennett, and Angel (Alan) Prien; grandchildren: Lukas Bennett, Rebecca Bennett, Nicole Prien, Riley Prien, Michelle Prien, and Weston Prien; brothers: Lester, James (Hope), Clifford, Charles, and Kenneth (Sheri) Bennett. He is preceded in death by his parents, and stepfather, Melvin Shippy.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday Nov. 8, 2009 at the Schwarz Park Boulevard Chapel, 608 S. Park Boulevard, Freeport. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. at the chapel on Sunday. Burial of the cremains will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his memory.
