MONROE - The City of Monroe is encouraging residents to "Adopt-A-Hydrant" near their home to ensure it is accessible at all times.
During the winter, snow should be cleared between the street and the fire hydrant. A path should be cleared about three feet around the fire hydrant allowing firefighters enough room to attach hoses to the fire hydrant if the need should arise. Delays in locating and hooking up to the fire hydrant could hamper fire suppression and possibly raise the risk of injury and property damage.
For more information, contact Daryl A. Rausch, City of Monroe fire chief, at 608-329-2579 or drausch@monroefiredept.com.
