MONROE/JANESVILLE - Renick E. Ross, age 71, of Monroe and formerly of Janesville, died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, at home. He was born Aug. 4, 1940, in Canton, IL, the son of Samuel and N. Victoria (Larson) Ross. After high school the U.S. Navy sent him on President Eisenhower's Goodwill Tour, serving as an Admiral's Staff musician for the 6th Fleet. He married Janet E. White on July 7, 1962. Renick was a modern Renaissance man: a composer, musician, poet, artist, educator, and craftsman. He operated Renick Ross Woodwind Repair from his shop on the Rock River in Janesville for 26 years, retiring in 2001. Strong relationships with the Creators' earth and creatures, friends, and family sustained and nurtured him, as did appreciation for all music well performed.
He is survived by his wife, Janet; daughter, Rachel (Sam) Jorgenson of Monroe; 2 grandchildren, Samuel Ross Jorgenson and Andie Elizabeth Jorgenson; uncle, JE Larson of Vallejo, CA; special cousin, Jane Houghton of Kenosha; and father-in-law, Lowell C. White of Phoenix, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents; special aunt and uncle, Dorcas and Raymond Whitehead; and special friend, Arnold Hahnfeld.
