Quaglia waives rights and goes mute

DARLINGTON — Joseph Anthony Quaglia, 18 of Mount Horeb, waived his right to a preliminary hearing and stood mute to the charges Aug. 10. Lafayette County Circuit Judge Duane Jorgenson issued a not-guilty plea on Quaglia’s behalf.  

A scheduling conference is slated for Oct. 18. 

Quaglia and Owen Isaiah Murdock, 17 of Galena, are being charged in Lafayette County Circuit Court with stealing two vehicles along with burglarizing Cork Down Saloon twice in one night, beginning in the evening June 16 into the early morning hours of June 17. Both are being charged with two felony counts of theft of movable property over $10,000 but less than $100,000, criminal damage to property over $2,500, burglary, theft of property with special facts, and misdemeanor charges of criminal damage and theft of property under $2,500.

Murdock also faces Iowa County charges of party to taking and driving a vehicle without owner consent and party to theft of more than $2,500. His first Iowa County Circuit Court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 14. 

Quaglia faces eight Iowa County citations connected to the incidents.
