MONROE - Cheryl M. Betts, 55, Monroe, was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign after officers responded to a two-car accident with no injuries in the intersection of 11th Street and 13th Avenue at 7:22 a.m. Wednesday, May 22. Betts collided with a vehicle driven by Julie C. Gerber, 54, Monroe. Both cars sustained moderate damage.
Ryan N. Saelens, 17, Rock City, Ill., was cited for following too closely after officers responded to a two-car accident with no injuries in the 1000 block of Wisconsin 69 at 3:48 p.m. Wednesday, May 22. Saelens was northbound when he hit another northbound vehicle, driven by Jodie M. Pfingsten, 45, Monroe. Both cars sustained minor damage.
On Monday, May 20:
At 8:45 a.m., a 15-year-old Monroe boy was referred to Juvenile Intake for habitual truancy and a 16-year-old Monroe boy was cited for second-offense truancy, both from Monroe High School.
The owner of an empty house in the 2100 block of 16th Avenue was sent a warning notice at 9:08 a.m. after police responded to a complaint that the grass was not mowed and there was mold growing on the exterior.
An anonymous caller at 3:12 p.m. complained about unmowed grass at a property in the 2900 block of 10th Street. The owner has until May 25 to mow.
An officer responded 2:23 p.m. to a complaint of multiple dogs barking in the 400 block of North 12th Avenue. The dogs were barking because a neighbor was mowing the grass.
A 12-year-old was warned at 5:37 p.m. for riding a bicycle in the 1700 block of 11th Street.
An officer on patrol made note at 5:55 p.m. that a previously warned property owner in the 1000 block of 2nd Street North had taken care of some unmowed grass.
Police were called at 6:22 p.m. to the 300 block of 4th Street for a report of a restraining order violation between two women. The case was referred to the District Attorney.
On Tuesday, May 21:
Unmowed grass was reported in the 900 block of 16th Street, 1300 block of 12th Avenue and 1100 block of 15th Avenue. Police notified property owners.
Nine baby ducks were rescued from a sewer in the 2800 block of 6th Street at about 11 a.m.
A caller at 11:29 a.m. complained that a person mowing in a neighboring yard was blowing cut dandelions into her yard and she was worried the seeds would grow in her yard.
Kids smoking and leaving trash on a terrace at 17th Avenue and 26th Street were reported at 12:41 p.m. An officer stopped by and discovered the kids were both 18 and could legally smoke. The officer made them clean up the butts and trash.
A 15-year-old girl was referred for charges of disorderly conduct and harassment after police responded to a report at 5:24 p.m. of two girls fighting at a residence in the 1800 block of 9th Street. The other girl, 16, called police and alleged the 15-year-old pushed her.
Dogs barking in the 1600 block of 14th Street were reported at 6:17 p.m. An officer noted that many dogs, from several residences, were barking. One owner took a dog inside after the officer made contact.
An officer stood by to keep the peace while a woman retrieved property from her estranged husband at about 7 p.m. in the 1400 block of 14th Street.
At 7:26 p.m., police responded to complaints of harassment between teenagers in Recreation Park. Two girls alleged a boy called them vulgar names. The boy countered that the girls were throwing tennis balls at him. Police urged them all to be more mature.
A 17-year-old girl was referred for charges of battery and disorderly conduct after police responded at 9:07 p.m. to a report of two girls fighting in front of a residence in the 2000 block of 14th Avenue. The alleged victim is 15.

Police responded at 11:05 a.m. to a report of an uncontrollable 8-year-old boy at Northside Elementary. Staff told police he won't listen, kicks and knocks stuff over. A family member came to pick him up. The case is being referred to Juvenile Intake.
A large group of girls loitering outside Monroe Middle School was reported at 4:09 p.m., possibly related to an earlier altercation in school. The girls were gone by the time an officer arrived.
Police responded to a complaint at 7:25 p.m. of kids trying to use the new playground in Lincoln Park. It is still under construction.
A littering citation is pending against a 17-year-old girl after police responded to a complaint that a person dumped a vehicle's ashtray out into the parking lot of Stop-N-Go, 1607 9th St. Police tracked her down using the vehicle's license plate. She refused their request to come clean up the cigarette butts and ash.
At 8:28 p.m., a pendant was reported lost somewhere in Monroe, possibly at a church or at Farm and Fleet. It went missing on May 19. If found, call dispatch at 608-329-2400.

Timothy S. Walls, 33, Monroe, was arrested for a probation violation at 11:09 a.m. at the Green County Justice Center.
Andrew P. Banks, 24, Beloit, was cited for speeding and driving with a suspended license at 12:59 p.m. on Wis. 11 near Hiltbrand Lane in Sylvester Township.
Edwin W. Meissner, 66, Marshfield, was cited for driving with a suspended license at 2:03 p.m. on Wis. 69 near Advance Road in Clarno Township.

Cody L. Chandler, 21, Mineral Point, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and violating his probation after deputies responded at 3:05 p.m. to a report of a domestic dispute on South Park Street in Belmont. He was jailed.
Patrick L. Stietz, 43, Argyle, was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign and for having an inadequate muffler at 2:16 p.m. on Wis. 11 in South Wayne.
Austin W. Yaun, 16, Monroe, was cited for failure to stop for a stopped school bus after a deputy responded to County Y in Wiota Township for a traffic complaint at 4:15 p.m. of a vehicle passing a stopped school bus.
A theft was reported at 9:30 a.m. on West Grove Street in South Wayne.
A theft was reported at 9:55 a.m. on County H in Benton Township.
