Monroe Police

MONROE - On Tuesday, Aug. 6:

• Delores A. Marti, 75, Monroe, was cited for keeping an excessive number of cats in her home in the 1100 block of 19th Street, after a person walking past at 9:30 a.m. reported an odor of cat urine so strong it could be detected from the sidewalk. An officer who checked in on Marti reported seeing seven cats in the house. Three cats is the maximum allowable by city ordinance. Marti was cited for a similar offense last year, and this is at least the third house in Monroe in which police over the years have found her keeping too many cats. The case is referred to the city building inspector.

• Robert P. Bevins, 45, Monroe, was cited for failure to yield right-of-way at a stop sign, driving with a suspended license and driving without vehicle insurance after police responded at 2:51 p.m. to a two-vehicle accident with no injuries at 21st Street and 11th Avenue. Bevins collided with a vehicle driven by a 75-year-old Monroe woman.

• Traci J. Luebke, 47, Monroe, was cited for failure to yield right-of-way and declined treatment for a minor injury she sustained in a two-vehicle accident at 3:20 p.m. at 12th Street and 16th Avenue. Luebke collided with a vehicle driven by a 27-year-old Monroe woman.

On Sunday, Aug. 4:

• A neighbor called 911 at 11:56 p.m. to report a boyfriend and girlfriend having a verbal disagreement in the 1100 block of 16th Avenue. No one was cited or arrested.

On Monday, Aug. 5:

• The theft of a smartphone was reported at 12:48 a.m. in the 1100 block of 16th Avenue. Police are investigating leads.

• A BMX-style bicycle was reported found at 1:25 p.m. in the 700 block of 21st Street and brought to the police station, where the owner may claim it.

• A resident in the 100 block of 22nd Avenue called at 1:29 p.m. to complain that her garden has become a habitat for groundhogs and raccoons. Police referred her to the Department of Natural Resources for advice.

• Police responded to a 911 pocket dial at 4:51 p.m. in the 600 block of 1st Street. There was no emergency.

On Tuesday, Aug. 6:

• Police responded to a 911 call at 4:39 a.m. from a cellphone traced to the area of 8th Avenue and 6th Street. Police were unable to find the caller, but there didn't appear to be any emergency.

• Police responded to a 911 pocket dial at 5:22 a.m. in the 700 block of 20th Avenue. The caller was identified, and everything was fine.

• Police followed up at 8:46 a.m. on an unmowed grass complaint in the 1300 block of 17th Avenue. The grass had been mowed.

• A resident in the 800 block of 22nd Avenue was warned to move trailers in the yard after police received a complaint at 10:25 a.m.

• A warning notice was left for a resident in the 2200 block of 8th Street after police received a complaint at 10:25 a.m. of pallets and a vehicle in the yard.

• Police received a complaint at 10:26 a.m. about weeds growing along a house in the 1200 block of 22nd Avenue. The property owner told police it was a failed flower bed and promised to chop the weeds down.

• Police followed up at 10:28 a.m. on a complaint of unmowed grass and a vehicle parked in the yard in the 2500 block of 13th Street. The issues had been fixed.

• A warning notice was sent to a property owner in the 2900 block of 16th Street after police received a complaint at 12:23 p.m. of an unregistered vehicle parked in the yard.

• A dog running loose was found at 6:23 p.m. in the area of 16th Street and 16th Avenue and taken to the Green County Humane Society. A possible owner reported the dog missing soon after.



Green County Sheriff

MONROE - On Monday, Aug. 5:

• Autumn R. Georgeson, 20, rural Albany, was arrested at the sheriff's department at 2:29 p.m. on a warrant issued by the Department of Corrections. She was jailed.

• Ronald D. Roesslein, 51, New Glarus, was arrested at 6:01 p.m. on a warrant for failure to comply with a court-ordered septic tank inspection. He posted the required bond and was released pending court.

• An abandoned one-vehicle crash in Albany Township remains under investigation. Deputies responded to the crash scene in the N6800 block of County X in at 9:59 p.m., but the vehicle occupants had already fled. An investigation revealed the driver was westbound, failed to negotiate a curve and hit a tree. The driver's airbag deployed. The severely damaged vehicle was towed to the sheriff's department and impounded.

On Tuesday, Aug. 6:

• Nicholas Paco Resendez, 16, Evansville, was cited for first-offense driving while intoxicated and transported by EMS to an area hospital for treatment of injuries, after deputies responded to a one-vehicle crash at 10:06 a.m. on Wisconsin 104 at County C in Brooklyn Township. Rock County deputies reported that the vehicle was westbound on County C from their county and struck the embankment on the west side of Wis. 104. The vehicle sustained severe front- and rearend damage and was towed. Further charges against Resendez are being forwarded to the District Attorney for review.

• Jeffrey S. Dampier, 51, Juda, was arrested on a warrant at 9:55 a.m. at the Green County Justice Center. He was jailed.

• Brandon M. Severson, 21, Argyle, was cited for failure to maintain control after deputies, the New Glarus Fire Department and New Glarus Area EMS responded at 6:37 p.m. to a rollover crash in the N7800 block of County J in York Township. Severson was southbound when he reportedly fell asleep. The vehicle drifted over to the east ditch and struck gravel. Severson then overcorrected. The vehicle crossed the road and rolled in the west ditch, landing on its roof. Severson reported no injuries but he was taken by EMS to an area hospital for precaution. The severely damaged vehicle was towed.



Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON - On Tuesday, Aug. 6:

• Roy B. Waugh, Jr., 27, Poplar Grove, Ill., was cited for non-registration of a vehicle and displaying fraudulent plates at 7:49 p.m. on Bean Street in Benton.

• Criminal damage to mailboxes was reported between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m. on Kienzle Lane in Elk Grove Township and on County H and Phillips Lane in Benton Township.
